PROJECT TEACHER
The project where you become the
teacher!
This will be the culminating project of your
fourth grade experience and an opportunity for you to share with your fellow
students and teacher some skill or knowledge that you possess.
Requirements:
- You will prepare and
present a five to ten minute talk on a topic of your choice on a date
assigned by your teacher (June 1, 2, or 3)
- The “sky is the
limit” for the topic that you choose, however it should be something you
are very familiar with. The DUE DATE for your topic choice is
Friday, May 29 ; submit your name and topic on an index card or
loose-leaf paper.
- Your project
should take the form of a “how to” demonstration - for instance, how
to…build a kite, decorate a cake, ride a skateboard.
- If it is an
activity that the class can participate in, you are responsible for
bringing in all the materials (enough for 21 students); this is NOT a
required element of your project.
- In addition to
preparing your materials, you also need to include a visual of some
kind.
- This could take
the form of 1) a poster outlining materials, procedure, etc. 2) a
handout with diagrams, procedure, etc., 3) examples of
whatever you will be constructing or using for your project, 4) other
possibilities?...check with your teacher
- When preparing your
talk, keep in mind these elements of effective public speaking:
- An introduction
to capture interest in your topic
- Summary of key
points
- Prompting for
questions at the end
- Appropriate
volume and projection of your voice
- Good eye contact
with your audience
Evaluation:
25% Evidence of
preparation and practice; obvious prior knowledge of the topic
25% Use of a visual
element as described above
50% Quality of
presentation - ability to be heard and understood by all
